Covent Garden Market Buildings

London

Lyons+Sleeman+Hoare masterminded the re-use and developed a long-term Conservation Masterplan and detailed designs for conversion of the Grade II* Listed former fruit and vegetable markets to create a world-renowned tourist destination incorporating shopping, restaurants, cafés and entertainment with an ongoing role to oversee the masterplan following conversion spanning several decades.

Scheme Overview

L+S+H Architects worked with a wide range of conservation groups, statutory authorities and stakeholders to achieve a masterplan which ensures the continued success of what has become one of London's world renowned tourist and leisure destinations. Over 25 major planning consents were gained to secure conversions and L+S+H subsequently managed and adapted the masterplan following the initial work, with a number of further developments.
Great care was taken to create spaces which can thrive as retail and leisure, whilst retaining the character and detail of cherished historic buildings.
